About PDFToolz

PDFToolz is an independent website at pdftoolz.com. It publishes browser-based PDF tools, a PDF editor, step-by-step PDF guides and a PDF glossary. The site is free to use, has no paid plan and does not sell your data. You can reach us through the contact form or at hello@pdftoolz.com.

Most online PDF tools upload your document to a server, process it there and send it back. That works, but your contracts, medical records, tax forms and ID scans then travel across the internet and sit on someone else's computer, even if only for a short time. We wanted a better option for everyday PDF tasks.

Modern browsers can do this work themselves, so we built every tool around that idea. The file stays on your device, the work happens there, and you download the result.

Each tool is written in JavaScript and WebAssembly and runs on your own machine. When you merge, compress, convert or encrypt a PDF, your browser reads the file into memory, makes the change and creates a download. The file never makes a round trip to a server.

The tools are built on well-known open-source libraries:

• pdf-lib for merging, splitting, rotating, cropping, stamping and editing PDF structure
• PDF.js (Mozilla) for rendering pages, previews and text extraction
• qpdf, compiled to WebAssembly, for password protection, unlocking and repair
• Tesseract.js for OCR on scanned pages
• docx for Word documents and fflate for PowerPoint and ZIP packages

Each tool page explains what the tool changes in your file, what it does not do and what to check before you share the result. Our methodology explains how tools are built, tested and reviewed, and the changelog lists what changed and when.

PDFToolz at pdftoolz.com has no connection to pdf-toolz.com or any other service with a similar name. We have no accounts, subscriptions or payment pages, and we never charge a card. If your bank statement shows a charge such as HPY*PDF-TOOLZ.COM, it comes from a different company. Contact that merchant or your bank to cancel or dispute it.

Your files are processed on your device, so we don't pay for servers to process each file. That lets us offer every tool for free, with no daily upload limits, forced sign-ups or watermarks. File size is still limited by your browser and your device's memory.
