Add Header / Footer
Add repeating header and footer text — a title, a notice or today's date — to every page.
Add Header / Footer online, free and private
A header or footer carries context onto every page: the document title, a company name, a confidentiality notice, or the date it was issued. When a page gets printed, photocopied or screenshotted out of context, that one repeated line is what still identifies it. This tool stamps your header and footer text across every page of a PDF in one pass, aligned left, centre or right, with an optional automatic date.
As with every PDFToolz tool, the work happens entirely inside your browser. The PDF is opened locally with pdf-lib, the text is drawn into the top and bottom margins on your device, and the finished file is handed straight back — nothing is uploaded.
How to add header / footer in your browser
- 1
Add your PDF
Click ‘Select PDF file’ or drop it onto the page. The document loads locally and is ready to stamp immediately.
- 2
Type your header and footer
Enter the text for the top margin, the bottom margin, or both — a title, a notice like ‘Confidential — internal use only’, or a version label. Either field can be left empty.
- 3
Align and add the date
Choose left, centre or right alignment, and optionally tick the box to append today's date to the footer automatically.
- 4
Apply and download
Press the button and the text is drawn into the margins of every page in your browser. The stamped PDF downloads in seconds.
Why use PDFToolz for this
Header, footer, or both
Fill in whichever margins you need. A report might take a title up top and a confidentiality notice below; a letter might only need a dated footer. Empty fields are simply skipped.
Automatic date stamp
One checkbox appends today's date to the footer in a clean readable format — useful for issued documents, printed drafts, and anything where ‘which version is this?’ matters.
Consistent across every page
The same text, position and alignment is applied to all pages in a single pass, so a 200-page manual gets the same treatment as a one-page memo, with no page-by-page editing.
Private, free and offline-capable
The stamping is client-side JavaScript: your document never leaves your device, there is no sign-up or page limit, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
