Split PDF online, free and private

Splitting a PDF means pulling the pages you actually need out of one that has too many. Maybe a 60-page scan holds a single contract you want to send on, a chapter needs to travel on its own, or you have to break a bulky handbook into one file per section for a shared drive. This tool does both jobs: extract a chosen page range into a fresh PDF, or explode every page into its own file delivered together in a ZIP.

The work happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF is read into memory and the new files are rebuilt on your own device, then handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded, so a payslip, medical report, or signed agreement never leaves your computer.

How to split pdf in your browser

  1. 1

    Add your PDF

Click ‘Select PDF file’ or drop one onto the page. The tool reads how many pages it contains so you can see exactly what you are working with.

  2. 2

    Choose how to split

Pick a page range — for example 4 to 9 — to pull those pages into a single new PDF, or choose to split every page into a separate file. Ranges are inclusive, so both the first and last page you name are kept.

  3. 3

    Split the document

Press ‘Split PDF’. The pages you selected are copied into new documents right in your browser, keeping their original text and layout intact.

  4. 4

    Download the result

A range gives you one ready-to-save PDF; splitting into separate pages gives you a ZIP archive with each page as its own numbered file. Download it and you are done.

Why use PDFToolz for this

Nothing leaves your device

Splitting runs on client-side JavaScript, so your document is never transmitted anywhere. There is no server copy to cache, leak, or hand over — which matters when a single PDF holds contracts, statements, or personal records.

Pages copied, not re-rendered

We lift the original page objects into the new file rather than flattening them to images. Selectable text, embedded fonts, vector graphics, and full-resolution images all survive the split exactly as they were.

Free with no limits

Split as many PDFs as you like, as often as you like, with no account, watermark, or page cap. Because the processing happens on your machine, there are no server costs and nothing to pay.

Fast and works offline

There is no upload or download round-trip to a server, so splitting is near-instant. Once the page has loaded you can even disconnect from the internet and the tool keeps working.
