Multiple PDF Pages per Sheet (N-up), free and private

Put multiple PDF pages on one sheet: 2 side by side, or a grid of 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16, on A4, Letter, A3 or Legal paper. This is called N-up printing, and it turns a 60-slide deck into 10 sheets of paper.

The tool builds a new PDF with the pages already laid out, so you can print it on any printer or share it as a handout. It is free and runs in your browser, with no upload.

How to put multiple PDF pages on one sheet

    Add your PDF

    Press Select PDF files or drop a PDF onto the page. The tool works on one file at a time.

    Choose paper and pages per sheet

    Pick how many pages go on each sheet and the paper size. Orientation starts on Auto, which uses the sheet direction that shows your pages larger. You can also set the reading order, the margin and gap in millimetres, and thin page borders. The live preview shows each sheet as it will print, and the hint shows how many sheets you will get.

    Press Combine pages

    Pages are placed in the reading order you chose: across then down by default. Each one is scaled to fit its slot and centred.

    Download and print

    Press Download PDF. The file name ends in the layout, such as -4up.pdf. Print it at actual size. Your original PDF is not changed.

Choosing how many pages per sheet

By default every layout leaves 5 mm of margin around and between pages; you can change both. For a portrait A4 or Letter document, each page prints at about two thirds of its size with 2 per sheet, a little under half with 4 per sheet, and about one third with 6 per sheet.

Slides and other landscape pages work differently. With Orientation on Auto, the tool tries both sheet directions and keeps the one that prints your pages larger, so wide slides often go two across on a portrait sheet. 8, 9 and 16 per sheet suit slides and thumbnails more than text.

  • 2 per sheet: body text stays easy to read. Good for reports and documents you plan to write on.
  • 4 per sheet: a good default for slide handouts.
  • 6 per sheet: best for slides. Small text in portrait documents gets hard to read.

What to check before you print

Open Preview and look at one full sheet before a large print job:

  • Web links keep working. Links that jump to another page in the file, bookmarks, comments, highlights and form fields are not carried over.
  • For a filled form, run Flatten PDF first so the answers become part of the page.
  • The last sheet may have empty slots if the page count does not divide evenly.

N-up PDF or Booklet Maker

N-up keeps pages in reading order on each sheet. Use it for handouts and prints you will not fold. For a folded booklet, use Booklet Maker. It reorders pages so they run in order once the sheets are folded and stacked.

Each N-up sheet is a normal PDF page, so you can run the result through other tools. Add Page Numbers can number the sheets and Grayscale PDF can make a black and white print copy.
